Minerals Technologies Elects Three New Officers

NEW YORK, NY, June 4, 2014-Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MTX) announced today its Board of Directors has elected three former AMCOL executives as officers to the company.

The company elected Gary L. Castagna, senior vice president and managing director, Performance Materials; Patrick E. Carpenter, vice president and managing director, Construction Technologies; and Michael R. Johnson, vice president and managing director, Energy Services.  D.J. Monagle, who has been chief operating officer (COO) and senior vice president and managing director of Paper PCC, will continue as COO for the Paper PCC, Performance Minerals and Refractories business units.

"As officers of the company they will provide continuity and stability in their respective business units as we integrate the two companies. Mr. Castagna joined American Colloid Co. in 1990 as Internal Audit Manager and was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility. In 1993, he was named Managing Director of Chemdal Ltd., and in 1997, to president of Chemdal International Corp. In 2001, he became chief financial officer of AMCOL. In 2008, he transitioned from CFO to president of Global Minerals, and in late 2013 was named chief operating officer of AMCOL.

Mr. Carpenter joined CETCO in 1992 and has held a number of management positions for both the Building Materials and Lining Technologies business groups. He was promoted to president of CETCO in January 2012.

Mr. Johnson joined CETCO Oilfield Services Company in 1997 as a group manager. He was promoted to division manager in 1999, named vice president of CETCO Oilfield Services Company in 2001, and to president of CETCO Oilfield Services in 2004. In 2010, he was named a vice president of AMCOL. Before joining CETCO, Mr. Johnson was president and part owner of Gulf States Environmental.

Mr. Monagle joined Minerals Technologies in 2003 as director, Global Marketing, Paper PCC. He was named vice president, North America, Paper PCC, in 2004, and in 2006, was appointed vice president, the Americas, Paper PCC. He was named senior vice president and managing director, Paper PCC in November 2007. In 2014, he was promoted to chief operating officer of MTI. Before joining the company, Mr. Monagle worked for the Paper Technology Group at Hercules Inc. between 1990 and 2003, where he held sales and marketing positions of increasing responsibility.
