NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2008--Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MTX) announced today that its Performance Minerals business will institute an energy surcharge on all orders shipped after April 30, 2008 for calcium carbonate and dolomite products. This includes ground calcium carbonate, specialty precipitated calcium carbonate and dolomite. This surcharge is necessary to offset significant energy price increases at the company's Adams, Massachusetts, Canaan, Connecticut, and Lucerne Valley, California, manufacturing facilities.

The surcharge follows a previously announced energy surcharge on lime products from Adams, Massachusetts, and is being instituted so the company can remain a strong long-term supplier of high quality calcium carbonate, dolomite and lime products to a wide variety of industries and applications.
